About the Author
Matthew Waterhouse was born on October the second, 1972, due to a spirited New Year’s Eve party in Toronto nine months earlier. Raised in a loving environment which included lots of books and animals, he went off to university where he spent most of his time daydreaming in the library and playing with his neighbors’ cat. After a short stint as a circus strongman, his friends got him a job teaching English in South Korea and the rest, as they say, is history.
The author now lives in the Rocky Mountains outside of Calgary, where he helps his wife manage a rehabilitation center for criminally inclined black bear cubs. He teaches elementary school and writes whenever the muse makes him. When he’s not in the land of the maple-flavored munchies he can be found on his parents’ wombat farm in eastern Australia, where he manages to consume vast amounts of imported cheese and avoid any form of manual labor.

A well-informed and hilarious guide to teaching in South Korea
By Cuchulain
Since I am about to go teach in South Korea in a month, I've been looking for resources to prepare me. Konglish covers a prodigious amount of topics relating to ESL/TEFL in Korea, topics such as: What to pack, how to handle kids of various ages (though this is more comical than serious), some history of Korea, how to adapt to Korean culture, food, where to travel, etc. But while it is very long and seems to cover a lot, there is not as much practical advice. Not as much as I would have liked. And there is too little advice for dealing with teachers, teaching strategies, specific details about finances, utilities, etc. For as much as there is here, this book is by no means an "Ultimate" guide.
I also strongly recommend Practical Advice for Teaching English and Living in Korea.

It definitely enriched my experience and I would recommend it to everyone wishing to learn on this amazing country.

Very insightful chapters into the religious and historical background of the country providing the reader with a greater understanding as to how and why things are the way they are.
